Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3 Passes Korean Radio Certification, Nearing Launch
IT Home, August 31 — It is no secret that Samsung is developing the next-generation Galaxy SmartTag 3. Now, the smart tracker has passed a key radio certification in South Korea, meaning its official launch may not be far off, though a specific release date has not yet been announced.
Galaxy SmartTag 2. The National Radio Research Agency of Korea recently certified a new Samsung device with the model number EI-T5900. The certification information lists it as a "specific low-power wireless device," a category primarily applicable to wireless devices used in data communication systems.
The certification documents do not directly mention the product name. However, based on the model numbering patterns of Samsung's previous generations, the EI-T5900 is highly likely to be the upcoming Galaxy SmartTag 3.
For reference, the original Galaxy SmartTag released by Samsung in 2021 had the model number EI-T5300, while the Galaxy SmartTag 2 released in 2023 carried the model number EI-T5600.
Passing this certification is a crucial step before the official launch of the product. Wireless devices must pass relevant radio certifications before they can be sold in the South Korean market. Samsung obtaining the certification also means that the development of the Galaxy SmartTag 3 has made substantial progress.
Previous reports suggested that Samsung might launch the Galaxy SmartTag 3 around September, but no official release date has been announced yet. The product is likely to be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Tab S12 series, which is expected to debut around the same period.
IT Home noted that the potential design of the Galaxy SmartTag 3 had previously been leaked.
It is understood that the new tracker may feature a rounded square body with a large circular button in the center. However, compared to previous generations, it may remove the built-in lanyard hole.
This means that users may need to purchase additional accessories with a lanyard hole in the future to attach the Galaxy SmartTag 3 to keys, backpacks, or luggage.
In terms of functionality, the Galaxy SmartTag 3 is expected to support Bluetooth and UWB (Ultra-Wideband) connectivity, and will continue to integrate into Samsung's Samsung Find network.
As the product launch approaches, more information about the Galaxy SmartTag 3 may be revealed in the coming days.
