South Korea to Offer Free AI Services to All Citizens
South Korea is preparing to provide free AI services, dubbed 'AI for All,' to all its citizens. The service is scheduled to begin beta testing next month and is slated for an official launch later this year. The service will be provided by three consortiums led by South Korea's two largest telecommunications companies and Kakao.
The government will supply part of the computing power, including up to 512 Nvidia B200 chips, and cover a portion of the operating expenses. The AI services are expected to integrate with government systems rather than functioning merely as standalone chatbots. Residents will be able to use these services to book doctor appointments, search for apartments, and receive tax guidance.
Small businesses will be able to calculate taxes and check their eligibility for government subsidies. Parents will receive recommendations for educational content. Each consortium plans to launch its own AI application, incorporating generative AI features into existing products.
Under the government-backed program, users will have unlimited access with no token limits.
