John Ternus to Take Over as Apple CEO Tomorrow, AI and Autumn New Products Become Top Priorities

Apple will complete its CEO transition on September 1: current Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering John Ternus will succeed Tim Cook, who will transition to Executive Chairman of the Board and continue to handle communications with global policymakers. Ternus will join the board on the same day, while former Chairman Arthur Levinson will become Lead Independent Director.

According to Bloomberg, Ternus will soon preside over Apple's autumn product cycle after taking office. This year's new products include the first foldable iPhone, a smart display that can recognize speakers and adjust content based on the user, and an OLED version of the iPad mini, which is expected to launch in October.

In the more distant product pipeline, there are also AirPods with cameras, smart glasses, a home security system, a robotic arm display, and wearable cameras.

Ternus has worked at Apple for 25 years, initially responsible for Mac engineering, and subsequently managed iPad, AirPods, iPhone, and the entire hardware engineering department. Reports indicate that due to his limited experience in finance, sales, legal, government relations, and procurement, Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan, Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh, and Services Chief Eddy Cue are expected to take on greater responsibilities.

CXMT Mass Produces LPDDR6 Memory, Xiaomi 18 Fold to Debut First

CXMT (Changxin Memory Technologies) announced the official mass production of LPDDR6 memory, which will be globally debuted in the Xiaomi 18 Fold, and is planned to be unveiled in September. Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun simultaneously confirmed that its self-developed Xuanjie O3 chip is the first to support CXMT LPDDR6.

LPDDR6 targets the higher demands for bandwidth and energy efficiency from mobile devices and on-device AI. This mass production links the Xuanjie O3, Xiaomi's foldable screen, and domestic mobile memory within the same supply chain collaboration; according to the timeline released by both parties, specific product information will be released alongside the Xiaomi 18 Fold in September.

Musk Responds to OpenAI Cutting Off Cursor: "Don't Care at All"

OpenAI announced that it has notified SpaceX of its plan to gradually terminate the contract directly providing OpenAI models to Cursor, with a proposed cessation date of November 12, 2026.

OpenAI stated that this date fully utilizes the notice period stipulated in the contract, and those primarily affected are developers who directly call its models through Cursor subscriptions.

Existing direct model connections can continue to be used before the proposed date, but OpenAI will no longer provide future models to Cursor, including the unreleased Astra.

In response, Musk replied with just one sentence on X: "Don't care at all."

He subsequently continued his attacks, calling OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman "completely untrustworthy," and once again accused the two of "stealing an open-source non-profit organization."

The conflict between Musk and OpenAI has thus escalated further. Previously, Musk had filed a $150 billion lawsuit against OpenAI, accusing OpenAI and Altman of betraying their original non-profit mission; OpenAI countered by claiming that Musk had previously attempted to seize control of the company.

Sony and Warner Music Publishing Sue Anthropic, Accusing It of Mass Piracy of Copyrighted Works

Axios reported that Sony Music and Warner Music's publishing arms sued Anthropic in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Friday night local time, listing CEO Dario Amodei and co-founder Benjamin Mann as defendants.

The plaintiffs accused Anthropic of obtaining copyrighted works through seed downloading and scraping during the development and operation of the Claude series models.

The 48-page complaint involves "tens of thousands" of musical works copyrighted by the publishers. The plaintiffs also claimed that Anthropic pirated thousands of works; in comparison, BMG previously targeted A...
