Chery Fengyun T7 Launched: Starting at 94,900 Yuan, 600km Range Across the Board, Free Replacement Car for Battery Thermal Runaway
On August 26, Chery Fengyun officially launched the Fengyun T7, a pure electric SUV featuring a 600km CLTC range across all trims.
The Fengyun T7 is available in three versions:
- 600km Yuexiang Edition: 97,900 yuan, early trade-in price 94,900 yuan
- 600km Shuxiang Edition: 108,900 yuan, early trade-in price 105,900 yuan
- 600km Zhixiang Edition: 118,900 yuan, early trade-in price 115,900 yuan
Chery also completed the first batch of deliveries at the launch event, meaning the Fengyun T7 is available for immediate delivery upon launch.
The 100,000-yuan class pure electric SUV market has long been a highly competitive red ocean. A starting price in the 90,000-yuan range, long-range versions, and increasingly larger screens are no longer novel. However, the Fengyun T7 does not tier its battery range; all three models share the exact same range.
At the same time, it makes a bottom-line safety guarantee, striving to secure its place in this densely packed market.
No Compromises at Entry Level, Long Range Across the Board
All three Fengyun T7 models are equipped with a 65.05kWh Rhino battery, offering an identical CLTC range of 600km. Charging from 30% to 80% takes 20 minutes.
Chery officially claims the tested range can reach 681.6km, though it did not disclose the specific conditions under which this "real-world test" was conducted.
Generally speaking, CLTC range figures are noticeably higher than actual range. If real-world testing can achieve "reverse exaggeration" (exceeding the official numbers), then the Fengyun T7's energy management system is worth deep study by many other automakers.
Beyond the battery, a 178kW motor and a 12-in-1 Kunpeng electric drive are also standard across the board. The electric drive boasts a comprehensive efficiency of 90.8%, while an AGS intelligent active grille, dual-source wide-temperature-range heat pump air conditioning, and high-voltage PTC are also standard features.
When it comes to energy consumption and thermal management, the Fengyun T7 treats all configurations equally.
It is worth mentioning that the Fengyun T7's Lingxi Smart Cabin 2.0 integrates the Doubao large model and supports wireless connections for CarPlay, HiCar, and CarLink, which serves as a bonus in the 100,000-yuan class.
Compared to the entry-level version, upgrading to the Shuxiang Edition adds a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, heated and ventilated seats, 50W wireless charging, a 540° camera system, and features closer to daily use such as BSD (Blind Spot Detection), door-open warning, and Sentry mode.
The top-tier Zhixiang Edition incorporates the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8775 cockpit-driving integrated chip, Falcon 500 driving assistance, 18-inch wheels, ambient lighting, and a lumbar support for the driver's seat, upgrading the vehicle's intelligence level.
The Zhixiang Edition's Falcon 500 driving assistance system consists of 3 millimeter-wave radars, 7 cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars. It supports cross-floor parking, 100-meter trail reversing, over 300 automated parking scenarios, and highway pilot assist.
In terms of safety, the Fengyun T7's body is developed to the 2026 E-NCAP five-star standard, utilizing a body structure with 80% high-strength steel. The battery pack features a 31-layer "6D chainmail protection structure," IP68 waterproofing, and a 200kN side crush resistance, reaching 96 times and 2 times the national standard requirements, respectively. A double-frame subframe and pack anti-collision beam are designed to divert impact forces away from the passenger cabin and battery pack during a collision.
Verify First, Guarantee Later
Another key focus for the Fengyun T7 this time is safety and durability verification.
Chery invested 81 dedicated durability test vehicles for the Fengyun T7, accumulating over 6 million kilometers of total vehicle testing, including 1.45 million kilometers of specialized durability testing. As a "global car," the Fengyun T7's road testing covered various global road conditions, such as high speed bumps in Brazil, cobblestone roads in Mexico, large-curvature corners on German highways, and unpaved dirt roads in South Africa.
For users, this means a lower probability of the car developing issues after prolonged use.
Chery has also introduced several bottom-line policies for the Fengyun T7. If the vehicle is destroyed by thermal runaway caused by the battery itself, the brand will compensate the owner with a new car of the same model or a new car with configurations no lower than the original. Furthermore, within one year of purchase, if an accident during parking or intelligent pilot scenarios is determined to be caused by the smart driving assistance system, the maximum compensation for injuries to vehicle occupants and third-party losses is 5 million yuan.
This is a differentiated card played by the Fengyun T7 in the 100,000-yuan market. Unlike some other new cars, the Fengyun T7's sister model, the Lepas L6, has already been launched in South Africa and Thailand, and will subsequently enter more European and Southeast Asian markets. Being a "global car" means it must adapt to safety regulations in multiple regions; for instance, during development, the car was built to the 2026 E-NCAP five-star standard, giving it an inherent advantage in safety.
This gives the Fengyun T7 more confidence to make bottom-line safety guarantees.
Price wars have pushed the threshold for new cars low enough, leaving plenty of options in the 100,000-yuan new energy SUV segment. Therefore, beyond competing on configurations and price, the Fengyun T7 has chosen to go a step further in "sense of security," using bottom-line guarantees to provide more hidden value.
