Zhao Changjiang: Luxeed RX's Exterior is Least Worth Mentioning; Safety is Always the Bottom Line
IT Home, August 31. During a live broadcast on August 31 detailing the Luxeed RX's safety technology, Zhao Changjiang, Executive Director and Executive Vice President of Luxeed Auto, stated: "The least worth mentioning about the Luxeed RX is its exterior, because the Luxeed RX is a premium car built for drivers using ultimate technology." He also stated that safety is the foundation of the entire vehicle, driving pleasure has no upper limit, and safety is always the bottom line.
Positioned as a mid-to-large pure electric coupe SUV, the Luxeed RX is built on the Huawei Turing platform and is available in both single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive layouts. The vehicle's dimensions are 5020×2007×1585mm with a wheelbase of 3000mm. It debuts the new generation of high-performance electric drive from Huawei Smart Engine and is equipped with a future-oriented L3 autonomous driving architecture design.
The car features a 1:2 wheel-to-height ratio, a 1.26 width-to-height ratio, and staggered tires (front tire width 255mm, rear tire width 275mm).
In terms of body safety, the Luxeed RX adopts a "343" body architecture. The front and rear cabins each utilize three major aluminum die-cast parts, directly connected through integrated die-casting to enhance torsional stiffness. The body also employs two nine-grid extruded aluminum sill beams, paired with two 1500MPa hot-stamped occupant cabin side skeletons, forming four major front-to-rear through-structures on the sides, providing a foundation for body rigidity and chassis handling.
In addition, magnesium-aluminum alloy is applied in 8 locations across the vehicle, achieving weight reduction through material and process optimization while balancing safety performance.
Beyond safety, the Luxeed RX enhances the driving pleasure experience across three dimensions: chassis, seats, and intelligent driving. The chassis features a double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension, equipped with dual-chamber air suspension and dual-valve continuous variable damping CDC shock absorbers, balancing cornering support and vibration filtering on bumpy roads. The braking system adopts six-piston calipers and FNC ventilated discs, with officials claiming its 100-to-0 km/h braking distance ranks in the top tier among Chinese new energy SUVs.
Regarding seats, the Luxeed RX is equipped with smart enveloping seats, with each individual seat featuring 98 flexible pressure sensors and an independent dual-pump design, adaptable to different body shapes. In terms of intelligent driving, the vehicle adopts a future-oriented L3 autonomous driving architecture design and possesses a full-link redundant architecture supporting L3 smart driving scenarios. Since the start of presales, orders for the version with the L3 autonomous driving architecture design have accounted for over 90%, including owners of luxury brands such as Ferrari, Porsche, and BMW, as well as additional purchases by owners of the Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) Series 9.
Regarding product positioning, Zhao Changjiang stated that from the beginning of its design, the Luxeed RX did not aim to benchmark against existing models, but rather hoped to create a new benchmark and redefine the standards and future of Chinese automobiles. He stated: "We defined this car to meet future needs, built with innovative technology and a full-link high-value system. The Luxeed RX has no competitors, nor have we thought about comparing it with anyone.
We focus on user needs, to meet and exceed user expectations, and to promote the common progress and development of the industry. From its initial design, the Luxeed RX was meant to become a completely new benchmark.
